Move and resize text in connectors (and other elements).
This is three suggestions for placement of text on the canvas and objects.
Suggestion 1: Placement of text on tasks and gateways
I would like an option to position the text in, under, left of, right of, or over the object. Currently the application determines where the text will be placed, and it is not always optimal placement for ease of reading the model.
Suggestion 2: Placement of text on sequence flows and messages
I would like an option to reposition the starting point of the text. Currently, the text always starts in the middle of the line, I would like to be able to position it to the left at some point so the text is centered over the line. Also, when the when a sequence flow has turns, it is sometimes better for ease of reading if the text is at the beginning, before the turn occurs, instead of placing the text after turn. I would like more freedom on text placement along the flow lines, and an ability to place the text over or under the line.
Suggestion 3: Free text
This is not an annotation. I will use Visio as an example. Usually in Visio, I select the flow object and then type text. I use the obejct properties to position the text, but not matter what I choose it just does not align correctly. In these cases, I delete the text from the object and then create a text box next to the object. This allows me to place the text precisely where I want on the model and it appears to someone viewing the model that it is attached to the object. For instance, I have a sequence flow from a gateway to a task that occurs when an order is accepted. I want to place "order accepted" on the sequence flow, but it cannot be positioned well and does not read well. So I would like the ability to create a free text object next to the sequence flow, called "Order Accepted" so thatit is easier for the reader to understand.
Thanks for the great product.
We appreciate your feedback comments.
The possibility for texts in connectors, gateways, events and subprocesses to be repositioned, resized or formatted, is available since Bizagi Process Modeler version 2.3 (April 2012).
Now these can be moved freely with the mouse, as well with the keyboard's arrows.
This is a very nice product. I'm using the Beta version and have the same comments that this person has provided. In addition sometimes your connectors get confused and do not route properly, i.e., create a U-Shape.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
This issues (both text placement and routing) will be fixed in a future release, not in the next that will be releasing mid June, but in subsequents releases.
May be the preferred option will be the manual text placement you describe.
Best Regards,
I just want to chime in and say that more freedom for text placement is very important to me as well. In many of the other modelers I've tested, there is the ability to change the text on the label, then drag and drop the label anywhere on the drawing/model. The nice thing about making the text draggable is that it is still associated with, and is meta data for the item. Adding free text capability will add more flexibility for formatting of the diagrams but may diminish some of the auto documenation abilities inherent in the tool. However it's done, I hope this is implemented soon!
Hi; Will you please provide a current status on this item; e.g. what release and when? This is an important item to me and my customers. I am pointing a lot of clients to BizAgi and need to answer this question for them.
Cheers, Paul
Hello,
I just want to say also that more flexibility for text placement is quite important to me as well.
If there is any options to put text in the diagram, please let me know how to.
Thanks
Kayo
Dear users,
We are aware of the request and we are working on improving this feature for a future release. We are sorry for the inconveniences.
Hi BizAgi folks.
Creation of clear and professional looking process maps is severely hampered by continuing inability to adjust text positions. For us as a consulting firm this is a show stopper for some uses rather than an inconvenience.
Are you able to say when this will be fixed?
Very best regards from down under

Dear Ron,
For the moment we don't have an aproximate date for this improvement's release.
We will let you know as soon as we have the advance on this matter.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
I am new to BizAgi modeler and currently evaluating and comparing it to other tools.
I like the modeler but when creating the first model I immediately noticed the awkward text placement on sequence and message flows and the inability to change this. As another user on this forum already indicates, this is a show stopper. Manually adding text boxes is not an acceptable solution.
Considering the previous customer questions, it is obvious that "text placement" is a high critical feature. Every tool of process mapping I had experienced before (since 2000 year), has it. Please give to that feature the correct priority and I am sure that you will find the solution quickly, otherwise I have to reconsider your design skills.
Best Regards
Andrea
The text placement is indeed very important. I find that it can make the diagrams look unprofessional as for some reason the text is placed at the far right of the sequence flow making the text overlap with the task box (hence impossible to read)
Thanks in advance for looking into this.
A great tool, especially on creating process documentation! This differs to most other BPMN-Modeler-Tools, thanks.
I would like to join this request, because right text placement makes the business process models looking more professional. You can see this on TIBCO Business Studio how simple this can be, so please add this functionality ASAP.
We receive many ideas for new features and functional requirements from members of the Bizagi user community. At the same time in our road map there is a list of great stuff we want to develop so that Bizagi stays as a leading Process Modeler. Not to mention the need to support new versions of Windows, Visio, SharePoint, MediaWiki and other related products.
So all these requirements are competing for a finite number of resources, and during these last years we have tried to balance the different interests in our multiple releases and still keep the product as a Freeware. A problem I imagine you will find with any other software product.During this time we have given priority to things we believe are also very important for the Modeling community like: process documentation, publishing in different formats (web, wiki, share point), support for more than 10 languages, Collaboration (both cloud and on-premise), BPMN 2.0, and more.
We could have done better with features like the one you mention. But we are finally getting there. Our upcoming release focuses mainly on the feedback we get from the community. It will include the most frequently asked features , and yours is one of them.
I want to take the opportunity to thank you, and other contributors, for your patience and for your valuable input that helps us make better products.

Hi Marcel
Thanks for the explanation. I'm a user who requested this design improvement quite some time ago.
Feeling compelled to respond, as a user of many different modelling tools, over many years.
Something that I have experienced a lot of and which is a real product turn off, is when there is too much focus on additions over improving the quality of what already exists. I realise it can be difficult in a feature race with competitors, but I see a lot of tools fall of their perch when quality culture gets bumped by marketing.
The look of Bizagi diagrams without proper text adjustment is just horrible. The amount of time wasted trying to adjust diagrams (extending connectors etc) so that text is readable and associated with the correct component is also horrible (not terribly 'lean'!). This is not an 'idea', it is a problem.
I suggest that part of the consequence of text problems is that in many cases Visio will win over Bizagi, particularly for presenting fragments of models to senior executives (and as wall charts). Its embarrassing to present diagrams that look like care hasn't been taken to align text.
Most of the tool is great, but this is probably the biggest drawback, and it would be surprising if this wasn't generally felt to be the case by other experienced users. I wonder what kind of surverys you conduct on real users?
By the way, in response to your point about 'upcoming release focuses mainly on the feedback ..', can I recommend to you the 'Lean Startup' by Eric Ries (wonderful book), that describes why more frequent 'smaller batch' releases are a much better idea.
Very best regards
Ron
Toda a comunidade aguarda ansiosa por esta implementação.
Esperamos inclusive que não demore muito.
Abraços.
Ron,
the version has been now released and we are eagerly waiting for your feedback.
Thank you for your valuable input which lead to several interesting discussions within our organisation.

Hi,
unfortunately, this works in bizagi Modeler in "standalone" but, still with last 10.7 version of bizagi Studio, this does not work when usin "Edit Process" feature (window) from bizagi Studio. Here we can select the text to change its value but not to move it. That's too bad.
Did I miss something in the correct way to try moving elements text (gateway or connector) in Studio/Eit Process ?
In advance, thanks for your help.
Walter
