Return to inbox on exit (of an activity)

Hi,

For some processes and their activities it is conveniant that you return to the inbox after performing the activity. For instance when you have to wait a few days before you receive information to continue on the next activity.

At the moment we are 'mis using' the service task (asynchronous) to enable this non existing functionality. Another advantage, and possible feature, of the service task is that the case is released so every one meeting the requirements to work on a case can take ownership at a later moment.

So the idea is to create an option 'Return to inbox on exit' which you can set on manual activities. And / or an option, 'Release case on exit'.

Best regards,

René

Dear Rene

Thank you for your interest in Bizagi.

One way to resolve this issue is to change the view of the pending cases to Detail View. In the Details view you can see detailed information about a particular case. You can navigate the pending cases at the left of the screen.

Please refer to following articles for more details:

http://help.bizagi.com/bpmsuite/en/index.html?work_portal_interface.htm

http://help.bizagi.com/bpmsuite/en/index.html?pending_activities.htm

Also, Bizagi allows reassigning work to handle conditions beyond business logic. Please refer to the following article:

Hope this helps!

Best Regards

Hi,

In our business we try to avoid having activities in the inbox that are not ready to start on. We think that it is important that everybody know that all activities in their inbox are ready and have the needed information to be continued. If not, we think they will waste a lot of time looking for activities that they can actually do.

In scenarios similar to yours we have added a timer event to make the activity disappear until we expect the information to be received. In case we receive it before the expected time (or it is not received at the expected moment so we will have to ask for it and wait for it again), we add an intermediate event in addition to the timer event (splitted by an event based gateway) so it will be possible to continue the work when the information arrives.

Is this a possible way to solve your issue?

Regarding the release case option I agree. It is not always logic that the person that performed an activity is also supposed to perfom the next one.

HI,

Thanks for your answer. I am familiar with the Details view and with the work reassignment.

But the idea is to return to the inbox after finishing an activity.

Maybe I should post this to the Idea section?
