Error while importing vsd files when Visio is not installed
When first clicking on the Visio import button, BizAgi indicated that at least Visio 2003 had to be installed.
Now clicking on the Visio import button generates the following message, "An error ocurred while trying to import Visio file: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I uninstalled and reinstalled BizAgi thinking the problem was related to reinstalling Visio 2003 after BizAgi was installed, but same error message pops up. The computer is running Win XP SP3.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Thank you for the valuable feedback.
Based on the comments in this post and from other members of the community, we understand it would be useful to have more specific and controlled error messages when importing models, for example when Visio or Word are not installed.
This idea is already in progress, and it will be released in the upcoming version.
I am getting the same error. I first got it when I got as far as selecting the Visio file in the file browser. Now the error pops up as soon as I click on the Visio icon in the Import toolbar.
I managed to figure out that the problem is that I didn't have Visio installed. I installed it, and the import dialog box came up ok and I was able to complete the import ok. It would be useful to revise the error message when Bizagi modeller encounters this problem that Visio is not installed.
Cheers, Ron

Dear Users,
We announce that we have included cleare error messages for import/export to Visio and Word, in Bizagi Process Modeler 2.4 version.
Best regards,
I am alittle confused. Why would I need a copy of VISO to complete an import of a VISIO file into Bizagi? That is what I am seeing, am I correct? I need to have a copy of VISIO in order to import/export to VISIO?
Dear Jan,
Yes, Visio is currently needed for both importing and exporting Visio files in Bizagi Process Modeler.
This is so because the Visio file is interpreted through a component that runs a Visio application instance in the background.
Best regards,
Is there any possibility to import a VISIO file without VISIO???
I don't have a VISIO licence, just the archive
Thanks
Dear Stephanie,
There is no current option for that.
This is registered as an improvement possibility for a future release.
Best regards,
Hi! I am trying to import Visio file (with vsdx ext) but it is not allowing me. However, vsd file is OK. It would be great if you can let me know how to proceed.
Thank you
Hi there,
I still have this problem running version 3.1.0.011 where I get the error "An error occured while trying to import visio file: visio is not installed. You need at least " visio 2003 installed.
Please advise.
