service task and message event

hello,

since it is possible to use a service task to model an automatic email sent to someone external to the process, what is the difference between the service task and the message intermediate event?

we should send an automatic email to push for a user to perform a task.

thank you

Dear Chiara,

Thank you for letting us know your questions. According to the documentation on BPMN models, "Message events should not be used to send electronic mails during the process flow. These elements must be used to let a process to communicate with another process." So, message events are used in order to connect pools (for example) or processes in different diagrams, whereas automatic emails should be modeled using a service task which is used to program automatic tasks.

In the following article, you may find more information regarding best practices in BPMN models: https://help.bizagi.com/bpm-suite/en/index.html?modeling-best-practices-anti-patterns.htm
