Linking between diagrams

Hi, I am attempting to create a link between process diagrams and realise that there is no connector that can allow me to do that. The link connector will only work within the same diagram.

How can I link event from one process to another process to show that they are connected?

Dear Yong,

We strongly recommend you to take a look to the BPMN 2.0 Standard, but only for this purpose. You can use some elements (e.g. Signals and messages) to link some diagram elements but only for certain with certain events and under certain conditions. We suggest the reading of the following two articles:

https://help.bizagi.com/process-modeler/en/index.html?multiple_pools.htm - Information about events in Bizagi.

https://www.omg.org/spec/BPMN/2.0/PDF - BPMN standard. Version 2.0. (Here we recommend especially the Events section on page 233). Also in pages 112-114 you find information about interaction between Pools.

Best regards.

Hi Andres,

I have already read those. As mentioned, we do not want to draw everything into 1 diagram. Otherwise, the diagram will become very big. However, we would still like to show the linkages between the diagrams.

Putting a start and end event on the separate diagrams will work but it will be harder for people reading the diagram to see that the 2 events from the 2 diagram are actually integrated.

If the Bizagi Link connector allow to connect across diagrams, it will overcome this and allow for a better end to end process view.

Dear Yong,

Thanks for the clarification. For this purpose you can use reusable sub-processes (CallActivities), those are the best way to represent the call between processes.

Please refer to the URLs below for further information:

https://help.bizagi.com/process-modeler/en/index.html?sub-process_types.htm

https://help.bizagi.com/process-modeler/en/index.html?referencing_existing_process_f_2.htm

Best regards.

Again, this does not answer my question which is to link between 2 diagrams. I already know I can have reusable sub process.

Imagine I have 2 sub process connected to each other. I open up each of the sub process diagram and draw them. However, I cannot add a connector from 1 of the sub process to the other.(this connector represents the linkage between the 2 sub processes).

Why is there no answer to this problem after 6 months? I am having the same issue.

Hello Yong, David,

We apologise for the late reply.

Drawing a link between 2 process models is not a feature of the BPMN 2.0 specification, so therefore it is not a feature in the Bizagi Modeller.

Creating a link between to process flows is possible in BPMN and Bizagi Modeller, using the Singal Event.

This Bizagi eLearning video illustrates the concept: https://youtu.be/K1D8G82UvKo/

If you would like details on the properties for these elements in Bizagi Modeller, please see these pages:

Intermediate events: https://help.bizagi.com/bpm-suite/en/index.html?intermediate_events.htm

End events: https://help.bizagi.com/bpm-suite/en/index.html?end_events.htm

Please let us know if this has resolved your problem, we look forward to your response.

Kind regards,

David Foster
