cost fixed and variable

Hello, i am new in this world of simulation, but i have experience an activity base costing, and i am trying to undestand the concept that bizagi use to assign resource cost, in the case of the fixed cost, because, only when you use the resource in the execution of an activity, in this moment you incur in a cost, that why a cost per hour its more relevant by each resource, for instance, a call center agent, which cost per hour is $8. , when he/she take´s a call, and the call takes 30 minutes, the cost of the use this resource will be $4, $8*.05 = $4. I can´t understand the fixed cost of a call center agent when attend a call, please help me with this dude, i really believe that i could do great things with this tool, but in this moment i cant figure which is the best way to build a solid model of cost.

Dear Hector,

To solve this question, I am going to share with you two articles, one is Level 3 - Resource analysis and another is Level 4 - Calendar analysis:

There, you will be able to find examples where explain how you should do it.

Best Regards

Thanks Juan for dedicate your time to solve my doubt, i really appreciate it.

I would like to determined the cost of a process, but i have a concern, in old post you said that the fixed cost is like the cost of ink a paper when you print papers, for instance, but when you add to an activity two resource, like to printer, the fixed cost, should be the double, but bizagi show just one fixed cost, and this point makes me not to be sure about if the total cost is really considered on this result, or definitely i still have not understood this concept.

On ABC costing when you use a time driven model, the most important is use the time as driver to establish the activity´s cost, is like this, if a activity takes 30 mintues y you know a cost rate of $4 / hour, the cost will be $2 per activity, 0.5 hours by $4/hours, this is $2.

I could manage this, with the average time of the activity, and the unitary cost of the resource. At this moment, all is great. But i would like to take advantage of the fixed cost concept in bizagi, but when i set two resource, like printer, bizagi just consider the fixed cost of one, and in the other hand, if i use the concept of activity cost in bizagi, for instance a surgery room is the resource that i would like to use, the cost of use this room is given by the time that take the surgery, but the activity cost is fixed...I am not sure, but i think if i would like to build my model, i should add to the activity, to resource, the Doctor, and the Surgery room, and in both cases i should use de unitary cost of the resource in order of use the time as the main driver, am i correct?

thanks for your time,

best regard.

Héctor.
