Dear Sehar,

Thank you for your interest in Bizagi.

You may use Bizagi Process Modeler to document and analyze your CMMI models.

Even though Bizagi enables you to visually and easily diagram, model and document business processes in industry-standard BPMN (Business Process Model Notation), there are no limitations for you to model your CMMI processes.

For more information, please refer to our online documentation at:

After CMMI-compliant processes are modeled/documented using Bizagi, can you then map these processes (e.g., tasks, outputs) to the applicable CMMI practices? This would be useful during a CMMI-based appraisal, where this mapping is required (i.e., mapping of company processes to the CMMI's practices).

Dear Diane,

As my workmate said, there are no limitations with CMMI Processes. You can publish you models in order to share with your colleagues.

You can publish your complete documentation in any of the following formats and share with your organization.

  • Microsoft Word
  • PDF
  • Mediawiki
  • Web file (opened through a browser)
  • Microsoft Sharepoint

For example, to publish to web:

Juan,Let me clarify my question. Within Bizagi, is there a field that can be used to capture a mapping of the process tasks to applicable CMMI practices? For example, can the Basic Properties field of a task be used for this purpose? If metadata exists within Bizagi for this purpose, then a report could probably be generated for a CMMI-based appraisal. Here's a specific example:Bizagi Project Planning process task "Estimate labor hours" - addresses (maps to) CMMI specific practice 1.2 (Estimate effort). Thanks,Diane

Dear Diane,

BizAgi Modeler is primarily for charting "process maps" through standard BPMN notation. But, as we have said, this does not limit their use because they can use it for other types of diagrams. Bizagi Modeler will not offer direct options, nor shapes, mapping, and so on for issues clearly related to CMMI; We mean the question to the answer is no: there is nothing included by default to manage info / metadata related to CMMI. What you do in these cases is to use extended attributes which may include additional info.

To include extended attributes, please follow these articles: extended_attributes_type and manage_extended_attributes
