Calendar configuration

Hi,

We're simulating a scenario where we use a "day shift" calendar (monday-friday, 8am-5pm) and a "night shift" calendar, and we were wondering what is the correct way to define the quantities of resources in this case.

Suppose we have one role ("Analyst") with 6 resources, and they only work the "day shift". What value should we type in "default quantities" and "nigh shift" calendar fields for this resource? Should we leave these fields blank, or type "0" quantity?

Thanks

Dear Inovação iProcess,

Concerning your question, first you will have to create the calendars containing the shifts. Then, on simulation view you will assign the resources to each calendar defined. By default the resources availability will be blank but once the simulation starts it will show a warning message, to avoid this message select the number wanted and the assignation of resources to each calendar would be by free will depending on your business rules. Hi Juan,

My question is: if a certain role is NOT used in a specific calendar, what is the official recommended configuration regarding the assignment of resources in that calendar?

Imagine a role "Analyst"' with 6 resources, and they only work the day shift. At the "Resources" / "Availability" screen, we would have:

Default Quantities: ?

Day Shift: 6

Night Shit: ?

What should I type in the "Default Quantities" and "Night Shift" fields for "Analyst" resource? Should I leave the field blank or type "0"?

Thanks

Dear Inovação iProcess,

The default quantity is the one selected once the Role is created. This will be overwritten by the quantity selected in the calendar defined. During the simulation it won't be accountable unless the resource is assign to the task (attached an image of the task resource assignation). Once the resource is assign, there must be a number selected, by default is 0.

Bottom line, the selection could be ether blank or 0 but it has to be align with the assignation in the task to be accountable in the simulation results.
