select cases by application/category

The web portal doesn't allow to select cases in the inbox by an application or category - only at the top level (all cases) or at the process level (all cases following the choosen template). The application entry is missing at the left bar; categories are present and are clickable yet the click doesn't select cases belonging to the category but only folds/unfolds the category.

I truly hope that providing a cases filter by clicking an application/category shouldn't be hard to implement. Without this functionality, columns customization isn't much useful: one can define the columns for the given set of process at the application level but there is no way to select cases belonging to this set in the portal.
