Plan to support free database server for processes ?

Hi,

Is there any plan to support at least one free database server for BIZAGI Studio (for example, Postgres) ? For both processes and data ?

Same question for BIZAGI Engine ?

My understanding is that it seems to be possible for data (entities) but not for processes. If so, this is a real blocking limitation for production deployments

Thanks and regards,

Walter.

Dear Walter,

Processes and their automation details in Bizagi are stored in a database. This database is set up in a database server.

You can use Express version. For instance: SQL Server 2008 SP3, Express edition, included in Bizagi Studio installation (recommended).

The following databases are supported:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 or higher
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1 or higher
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 or higher
  • Oracle Database 11g R2
  • Oracle Database 10g R2

Keep into consideration that Oracle version 10g R2 it is past its extended support date (v10g R2 EOL was on July 2013).

New Bizagi projects should use Oracle 11g R2, due to support from the vendor itself).

Dear Juan,

thank you for your response.

This confirms my understanding : MS SQL Express is the only free BD Server can we can use. Right ?

And it seems thru your answer that you have no plan to add at lest one more supported free DB Server (for exemple Postgres). Right ? That's to bad ...

The point is that MS SQL Express is limited (cannot be used if size of DB exceeds 10Gb). So probably not scalable for real Prod deployements. Do you have any "dimensioning" tool or rule to evaluate how many instances of processes with how many average number of activities that makes necessary to replace Express by SQL Server or Oracle ? Do we talk about dozens? hundreds ? thousands? ... I know that it depends on the complexity of the processus. However, as we want to use a free DB Server (like Postgres or other) in Production, before deciding to use bizagi rather another BPMS, we must know if it's realistic touse Express in Production environment.

In advance, thanks for completing your response.

Dear Walter,

Regarding your question, it is too specific to inform you how much space and how many tables you need. This depends of each project and its needs. We don´t have a tool to determine and analyze it.

At the moment, we only support SQL Server and Oracle. Currently our product does not support other databases. We invite you to use our feedback platform in the ideas zone to post your request.

This platform will allow you to share your ideas so that the whole Bizagi BPM Suite community can vote and discuss them. When voting for posts and comments, the most voted ideas will rise to the top. We want to make sure we solve real needs that our clients are facing with our products, and through this approach we can add the features you consider most important.

Best Regards
