How can I deploy Bizagi Applications on Windows Azure ?

Hello,

My company standardizes on Microsoft technology and Windows Azure is becoming more and more attractive as an alternative to on premise hosting and 3rd party hosting. How can Bizagi help us to reduce IT cost ?

Deploying a Bizagi application to the test or production environment should not require more than IIS and ASP.NET to run the web application and a SQL Database. Windows Azure has 'managed services' for this that do not even require the set-up of a VM instance. The cost for this is not even 10% of any hosted alternative!

  1. Web Sites: for running web applications built on ASP.NET
  2. SQL Data Services: for running databases in support of the above web applications
  3. Azure Service Bus: for integrations with on premise WCF web services (REST/ODATA/JSON)

Have you tried something like this ? If not, is this something you can do on a short term ? I believe there is a clear interest for Bizagi if you can state that the web applications generated by Bizagi Studio can be deployed on Windows Azure Services right ?

I can see a few particularities, perhaps you have already addressed ?

  • User Authentication using Windows Azure Active Directory services ?
  • How to install the 'Bizagi Project Scheduler Services' over 'Web Deploy' ?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and perhaps findings,

Best Regards,

Johan

Johan, has been there any reply about this topic? My company is very interested in this kind of integration too, can anyone confirm that you can deploy on Windows Azure(or any other cloud service related)?

Thank you in advance

Hi Carlos & Juan, For Bizago to be compatible with PaaS offerings like Microsoft's Azure Web Services, it will take an architectural change @Bizagi to step away from the deployment requirement of a 'Windows Service' and support 'Web Deploy' to deploy the ASP.NET site and define a 'Web Job' that can be scheduled instead. You can use Azure's IaaS offering already now if you don't mind the hassle of managing your own VM's in the cloud. IaaS is best suited for lift & shift towards the Cloud scenarios. PaaS is abstracting the IT Ops to the point where you would only need to care and manage the deployment of your automated processes. I like !I did not get a satisfactory reply so far. Perhaps you will. Would appreciate if you keep me looped in. Best Regards,

Johan

Dear Users,

We understand this alternative and we are interested in supporting such scenarios in the future. For the moment, you would need to start with an Azure VM which does not require any special consideration.

Through a VM those services may not be involved, but it is the most common model that our customers use to set up Bizagi in the cloud.

ODATA so that users can use Excel + Power Query to pull data from entities stored in the Bizagi DB would be a great feature. To complement the current REST model that requires programming to pull data, that ultimately is going into a spreadsheet. Writing a custom process putting the data into a collection + grid + Excel button is doable, but time consuming.

I'd love to know whether there is any update or documentation on this topic. The image in the marketplace is meant for evaluation purposes, but we would like to know how we would deploy / integrate the solution into our own (Azure based) landscape. If the support team can still help out, please have them contact me :)
