For light weight (laptop) development, how to install Bizagi using 'IIS Express' (7.5 or 8) ?

Hi,

I have managed to install 'Bizagi Enterprise .NET Edition' in Development mode on my laptop referencing a Windows Server running IIS 7 and SQL Server 2012. Works fine, but only if and as long as I am connected.

To do some off-line development, I got Bizagi to accept a locally installed SQL Server Express LocalDB Instance. However I cannot create a new project (that would then be local to my laptop) because of no IIS.

I have 'IIS Express' installed (7.5 & 8). How can I create a new project in Bizagi that targets my IIS Express ?

Should I use AppCmd first to perhaps create the site already ?

TIA & BR,JohMut

Dear Johan,

Yes. You can create projects using your local IIS just you need to verify it is correctly installed. Please check this article: http://help.bizagi.com/bpmsuite/en/index.html?iis_installation.htm

If you have already installed SQL Server and IIS, you can work off-line.

Dear Juan,

I think you misunderstood my question. The idea is to use a lightweight development environment off-line. Already the SQL Server LocalDB is not running as long as it is not used so does not consume any resources. Now for the IIS Express the idea is the same, instead of using regular IIS. Your response is valid for using regular IIS.

IIS Express can be installed from the Microsoft Web Platform Installer and managed using 'iisexpress' from the command line. Sites can be created using 'AppCmd' then started, stopped and managed from a system tray app.

Dear Johan,

Thanks for clarification. IIS Express will be a new feature for our next release 10.5 version. It will be available in a month approximately. We are working on the documentation for our help page (http://help.bizagi.com/bpmsuite/en/) where will explain how to implement and how to use it.

Best regards.
