Dynamic load of comboboxes with values from database

Hello, Guys!

I need to create an integration service with my database.

I need to load two comboboxes dynamically from a table in my database. User has to pick a year from a list, that contains only the years that I already have in the database and after he pick a year, I want to load another combobox that contains all of the records in the table for the selected year.

Do you have any idea how I can do that? Should I use custom component or a soap web service?

Do you think I can create an empty parameter entity for the years and fill it out on load of my form using a custom component that retrieve a xml data, that I can insert in the entity?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Dear Albena,

The Cascading combo control presents two or more combo boxes working in conjunction with one another, prompting end users with only relevant data. Once a value is selected from the first combo, the second combo will be automatically filled. The most common example is the presentation of country and cities. When a country is selected only the cities of that country will be shown.

Hello, Juan!

I took a look at the cascading combos, but I don't think it will help in my case. Let me try to explain it a little bit more clear. For example I have two master entities Customers and Orders and the relationship between them is one to many. So I need to load a combobox with values of the table Customers and when a customer is chosen to have another combobox that dynamically changes and contains only the Orders of the chosen customer.

So in other words I think my main question is: Is it possible to load combobox not from parameter entity, but master?

Thank you in advance!

Dear Albena,

No, it is not possible. The feature was made only for parameter entities. You can create an idea to be developed in a future release.

Hello, Juan!

Is there any way for work around? For example can I load a parameter entity from custom written component, that reads all rows from the database?

Thank you in advance!
