Simulation Troubleshooting: Simulation is not working
(Copied from e-mail with Bizagi team to share with the community. Will keep this thread updated with results)
My team has been
evaluating Bizagi as a potential solution for our BPI initiative currently
underway at our company. We cannot, however, get the simulation to work,
despite scouring the feedback.bizagi.com site and redrafting, rechecking our
models numerous times.
We would greatly
appreciate your assistance in helping us understand why this is not working. I
have attached a very simple process, defined all the parameters, resources,
calendars etc. and still get the error message “The simulation has failed.
Please ensure your model is compliant to the BPMN 2.0 standard and that it is
supported.” The simulation has never worked on any of our models, not even this
very simple model.
Our Specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Service Pack 1
RAM: 8GB
Excel: v9.0
Other system
requirements are all fully met as confirmed by our IT team.
(Response from Support Team from e-mail)
In order to simulate without any
problem, please upgrade your current Bizagi Modeler 3.0.0.022 from: http://www.bizagi.com/en/products/bpm-suite/modeler#downloadmodeler
Then, apply the latest FIX from: https://bizagi.sharefile.com/d-s95f33e09a384e7f9
using the instruction file.
We would like to ask you if you could share your posts on the
Bizagi Process Modeler forum (on http://feedback.bizagi.com/en/),
where it can be viewed and treated by the Process Modeler community and its
experts.
Best Regards,
Support Team
Bizagi
Update 1:
We still have the same problem (no change at all). Every simulation fails with the error message:
"The simulation has failed. Please ensure that your model is compliant to the BPMN 2.0 standard and that it is supported by the Simulation Engine."
Any insight into what is going on here?
Dear Bizagi Modeler team,
As per my last comment, could you please reopen this topic? It is not solved as we still cannot use the modeler after trying the reinstall and applying the patch.
Grateful if you could jump back into the thread and let us know what else we may be able to try.
Many thanks
Hi Will,
I don't know it this is a solution for your problem, but the error you get happens to me when there is a consistency problem with some paramenter. For example, if you use Time Analysis, and use a Normal Distribution for Processing Time, the random number generator could generate a negative number, thats fine. BUT a time can't be a negative number. Then, it pops up the error you mention. If you change for a Truncated Normal Distribution, then works fine.
Because the random number generator is random, of course, some times the error appears, but some tiemes there is no a negative number, the errors doesn't appear.
Good luck.
Edgardo
Dear Will,
If the recommendation of Edgardo did not work, please check the simulation considerations on this article: http://help.bizagi.com/processmodeler/en/index.html?simulation_in_bizagi.htm
If the problem continues, we require to analyse your BPM file. Please send us a copy of it to modeler@bizagi.com. This information will be treated as strictly confidential and the file will be deleted once it is no longer needed for support purposes.
We look forward to hearing from you
Hi Juan,
I have tried Edgardo's suggestion and applied truncated normal distribution to all tasks. There is no change, the process fails to simulate.
I have downloaded samples of process flows that your team has made available in other message threads and these all fail to simulate for us as well -- same message every time, at every simulation level: "The simulation has failed. Please ensure that your model is compliant to the BPMN 2.0 standard and that it is supported by the Simulation engine."
In addition, we have read through all the message threads about simulation and have tried other solutions offered by your team, including:
1. Reading through the entire simulation help section on the site
2. Installed (and reinstalling v3.0.0.022
3. Applied FIX 28BA26913
None of this had any effect on our very simple workflow we made for testing purposes. I will send this to your team via e-mail again and see if there is anything you can find.
Many thanks,
Will
Dear Will,
We received your BPM file and we were able to simulate it without any problem. Our team will write you to analyse why it does not work in your PC.

Hi Juan,
Many thanks for your quick reply. It is good to know that we have been building our models correctly at least! I look forward to hearing from your team and troubleshooting.
All the best,
Will
