Under Consideration

How do I reference an existing diagram from different BPM file in the reusable sub process?

Experts,

I am a newbie in BPMN.

I'd like to call a predefined diagram as reusable sub process.

Predefined diagram does not appear in the Process dropdown list on the Basic tab.

I tried to import but did not work.

please advise how.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Guntae,

Regarding this question, Modeler cannot call diagrams from external BPM files. All diagrams need to be included into the same BPM.

You can export/import using BPMN and XPDL standard:

Dear Guntae,

You can export the two diagrams for web and point from one to the other using the link.

It may not be ideal, but can solve part of the problem, which seemed to be maintaining separate BPM files and still get some interaction.

I hope the information will help you.

Interested parties,

I'm a newbie to BPMN also but have experience with software development. I believe that being able to reference a shared sub-process easily should be basic functionality for BPMN software. If you aren't able to reference a shared sub process you will have to copy the sub process into your diagram instead. This means that if you modify the copied sub process it doesn't automatically get updated in all its referenced files. The web solution above is good but we shouldn't have to do a hack to get something so important working. It's great that Bizagi is free and I really love using it. Please consider adding the ability to reference sub processes in a way that allows you to change the sub process in one place and all references reflect the changes.

Thank you for anyone spending time and consideration on this issue.
